ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT

Who does the Tournament benefit and what is the Marine Corps League?
Proceeds from the Tournament benefits the local detachment (Commiskey-Wheat) of the Marine Corps League.

The Marine Corps League was founded by Gen. John A. LeJeune in 1923 and chartered by an act of Congress August 4th, 1937.  The League is classified as a veteran/military service organization formed for the purpose of promoting assistance to Marines, their widows and orphans, and to preserve the traditions of the United States Marine Corps.

It is a "not-for-profit" organization within the provisions of Internal Revenue Service Code 501(c)(4), with a special group exemption letter which allows for contributions to the Marine Corps League and its auxiliary and subordinate units, to be tax deductible by the donor.

League members participate in:
* Awarding scholarships
* Supervising a National Youth Physical Fitness Program
* Promoting membership incentives
* An assistance program for hospitalized veterans
* A national service program
* Patriotic functions and providing representation to the U.S. Congress in Legislative matters affecting the U.S. Marine Corps

CANEBRAKE COUNTRY CLUB

The Ninth Annual Benefit Marine Corps League Jack Lucas Memorial Golf Tournament is scheduled for Monday October 11th, 2010 at Canebrake Country Club.   Canebrake is a challenging, spectacular and memorable par 71 designed by the legendary Jerry Pate. The private club attracts members throughout the region as well as golfers from all over the nation. The courses unique design, undulating fairways and changes in elevation make it a popular destination for golfers looking for a challenge.

The tournament features a Hole-In-One prize consisting of a Nissan Titan King Cab.

Special prizes for Longest putt; Longest drive; Closest to the pin; Putting contest; and Chipping contest.  The tournament will be in a shotgun start format.  Lunch will be provided.
